Save the Bees, Save the Food.

Technically, beekeeping is not allowed in the city of Detroit; the pending Urban Livestock Ordinance, however, will allow backyard hives. And dozens of Detroiters, if not more, "fly under the radar" with backyard hives that help fight the disappearance of lbee colnies across the country.

The Ohio State University Bee Lab page is a wealth of information for gardening practices, plant guides, and other information pertinent to attracting bees to your garden.

Michigan State University Extension Office offers multiple links to information concerning pollinators and pollination, including a guide to attracting and protecting bees to your landscape, as well as a guide to all the Michigan rules and regulations surrounding bees in an urban landscape.
